Unless you are from a different planet, it is impossible to escape the barrage of information about different diets, and not notice that fitness has recently been quite a trend. People have tried or been trying Atkins, Paleo, Keto, Vegetarian, Vegan, low fat, high fat, South Beach, Cabbage, Weight Watchers, Zoom, Noom and the topic of a diet might not be as big as Covid, but probably bigger than anything else. As a society, we have been also working out more than ever, yet are not getting any healthier. Chronic conditions, obesity, mental illnesses, and addictions are in fact all-time high these days. It is also worth pointing out that just because someone is skinny, it does not mean they are well and healthy. Even though body fat is one of the biggest culprits of inflammation, and should not be ignored, eating disorders are deadly and debilitating too, so let’s not confuse someone’s weight with wellness. Anorexia, bulimia, but also unhealthy obsession with healthy foods called orthorexia, are on the rise amongst both women but also men, and let’s not forget about the newish term - skinny fat. Let’s also not confuse fitness with wellness. There are many people who make exercise an important part of their daily routine, but they often turn it from what is supposed to be healthy into an unhealthy obsession. One thing it is to be kind to yourself and to love, respect and care for yourself, but another to obsess. Even though healthier, when you exercise too much and are not training for the Olympics, you are probably using it as some sort of an escape, just like people who drink, gamble or are addicted to sex. Finally, when you use exercise to lose weight, because you are extremely motivated to do so, you might not be realizing that you might be in fact creating a vicious cycle. People who use exercise to lose weight often become a slave to their workouts and then eat more after all anyways. While exercise is a way to maintain weight, It is a quite useless when it comes to weight loss as we gain 100% of our weight from the food we eat, and that one hour on a treadmill can be nulled by eating something in a five minutes or less. So why am I writing all that? Maybe we should stop thinking about diets, and fitness, but about our holistic wellness instead? Truth is that while many people focus on weight loss, they do it often with disregard for their health. All their motivation and self-discipline is used up on creating unhealthy relationships with food and exercise that often stem from unhealthy relationships people have with themselves. So how do you turn things around and how do you get not only skinny or fit, but first of all well? Stay tuned to find out. ![]() As we age, we not only gain fat, lose muscle mass and strength, but we also become overall less fit. We lose power, agility, balance, and flexibility. Inside our bodies, our hearts are losing strength as well , and let’s not forget about bone loss and sarcopenia. Our joints start to ache as arthritis kicks in. Our spines start to bend. Walking up the stairs gets harder and harder because of our hearts, but also our lung capacity. The list is long and you might have realized yourself that your body is not the same as it used to be, although some tend to ignore it. Weight loss is still the number one and often only wellness goal, and by the time many finally reach it, they will have become unhealthy in the process through dieting and often exercise programs. Weight loss is a good goal to have, but if this is the only thing you concentrate on and build your workouts around, then you might be doing more harm to yourself than you think. Long cardio workouts, such as running, is what most people resort to as they embark on their journey to fitness or weight loss, but this type of workout can decrease testosterone levels, increase cortisol production, weaken immune system, and makes your body lose muscles in addition to beating up the joints. That type of a workout is also aging you. It can make your body frail instead of strong. This is exactly what can happen to you if you continue on concentrating on weight loss and cardio, but forget other elements of fitness. Strength training at the gym is great, but machines often lock you into place and stabilize your body, which is fine for beginners or elderly people, but this type of workout doesn’t require you to work out in all planes of motion or using stabilizing core muscles. If you are starting out with strength training, they are easier, and you can sure get a great workout with machines as well, but there are better exercises you can do to not only lose weight, but also to age less. And remember that aging is not only what happens on the surface or our face, but that it takes toll on our entire body. There are exercises you can do that will not only turn your body into a fat burning machine, but will also help with all elements of fitness, such as strength, flexibility, appropriate body weight/mass/fat and your posture, heart, bones, lungs and joints. You might be thinking that it is impossible to do it all in one, but High Intensity Bodyweight Training is exactly the type of a workout that can kill not only 2, but five birds with one stone, and not only make you look better, be healthier, but it can literally make you 10 years younger! Here are the reasons why one should consider High Intensity Bodyweight Training (HIBT) : 1. TIME SAVER You can do HIBT anywhere at any time, so you do not waste your time on going to the gym. You also do not need any equipment, so transitioning from one exercise to another is super easy and that in itself saves a lot of time! Studies show that 2.5 minutes of highest intensity exercise, such as plyometrics with your body weight spread out over a period of 25 minutes where you go at it for 30 seconds and take a four minute break and you do it five times, will burn as many calories as a 45 minute lower intensity endurance training , such as a jog. Got no time to waste, try some high jumps for 30 seconds where you jump trying to hit your chest with your knees to get you out of breath. This form of exercise will burn up to extra 200 kcal after the workout. And if you are not as fit, just pick a different exercise that will get your heart rate up. 2. COMPREHENSIVE HIBT focuses on many elements of fitness: cardio, strength, endurance, flexibility, agility, balance, power and it will also be the most effective fat burning form of exercise because your body will burns calories over the next 24 hours even when you do not exercise. Additionally, if you do 15 push ups, then 15 burpees, 15 lunges, you will not only get your heart pumping and burning calories, but you will be also strengthening your body, and since you are doing it on your feet, you will be trying to balance your body while performing power moves. This type of training will get you fitter, healthier and better looking ! 3. MODIFIABLE Whether you are a beginner or an advanced athlete, you can find HIBT challenging, which is good because you want some of your workouts to be challenging. We are all familiar with no pain no gain! Good thing is that you only need to challenge yourself to a literally 1 MINUTE workouts and you’re done! As you become fitter, you can do extra reps, perform the exercises faster or slowly, take shorter breaks, or add a power move, such as jump. On the other hand, beginners or people who have some form of injury will skip the jumps, or if a regular push up is too hard, they will do them off their knees or if that is too hard, then off the wall. Voila! 4. MOST EFFECTIVE HIBT can have a major impact on your metabolism due to burning calories post workout, so you will lose weight unless you eat too much of course. It will also strengthen your body, so you will not only be more toned, but you will also find everyday tasks easier to perform, such as lifting objects, carrying stuff, walking up the steps, which is something we do not think about when we are young, but try to walk up five flights of steps and see how easy it is. If you feel winded, start thinking seriously not only about looking good, but your body also serving you best it can for as long as possible. You will also prevent injury because these workouts will strengthen your bones. Since your core will be involved in almost al the moves, you will not only have tighter abs, but you will also gain better posture, relieve lower back stress, and improve overall quality of life. Functional moves involved in this type of training will improve balance through increased body awareness and control 5. FREE No gym membership needed, no equipment needed. In fact, you do not even need a workout gear. No shoes required and if you are working out in the privacy of your own room, you can do them naked if comfortable! If you do not where to start and feel like you need some help, hire a couch to get your started, but you will soon know what to do on your own. WHAT'S YOUR EXCUSE ? No time? No space? No money? Boring? Not fit enough? Guess what? Unless you are having injury or are completely unfit, you can start bodyweight exercises appropriate to your level anytime, anywhere. * Please note, that if you are a senior with joint pains, posture problems, issues with balance or atrophied muscles, you should seek professional help when looking for appropriate exercises. If you are looking for help with developing exercise program that will be sustainable, and appropriate to your age, fitness level, and goals, feel free to contact us about it. 100 years ago, big majority of people would die from infectious diseases. Healthcare, pharmaceutical industry have thankfully put an end to many infectious diseases thanks to vaccinations, scientific advances, and even simple hygiene. Today, however, we have another problem and an epidemic of chronic conditions. 4 in 10 adults today suffer from two chronic conditions and 6 in 10 from one. 85% of senior population have at least one chronic disease, and most have multiple ones. Even children are now being affected by those more than ever. The US spends about 3 trillion dollars on the management of the diseases. And since Covid is such a popular topic these days and an infectious disease, it is worth mentioning that one of the biggest medical journals, the Lancet, admits that this global crisis of chronic diseases and failure of public health to raise awareness of highly preventable risk factors have left populations vulnerable to acute health emergencies such as COVID-19.
As a health and wellness coach who have also worked in healthcare for few years now and prior to that in the fitness industry, I have witnessed the effects of chronic conditions on the quality of people’s lives first-hand, and the fact that majority of people do not understand where the conditions come from and how we can not only prevent them, but even reverse some by making changes in our lifestyle choices. Moreover, I have realized that a big problem in our society is that people have wrong mindset, lack of knowledge and proper guidance. Everyone, including some doctors, only talks about weight loss, diet, fitness goals, but very few people are interested in metabolic health, and it is the metabolic health that is at the core of the weight issues, and most of the chronic conditions such as diabesity, obesity, heart failure, kidney, or even Alzheimers, dementia, and even certain cancers. A disturbed metabolic function leads to hormonal imbalances, inflammation, oxidative stress and brings on the above problems and conditions. Most people, including my former me, do not understand this concept and focus on the outside approach by just adding on different medications and if younger, approaching their weight issues with improper calories counting and exercise that may backfire. They do not understand the concept of metabolic health or fitness, and as someone with master’s degree in education and 15 years in teaching, understanding the concept is the key. In the case of metabolic health or wellness, it they could change the trajectory of their weight, health and many aspects of people’s lives and being able to see beyond weight issues. Metabolic health or fitness describes how we generate energy in the body from glucose (blood sugar) mainly, and sometimes from fat, to power every single cell in our body. When these energy producing pathways run smoothly, we are in what is called good metabolic health. Unfortunately, 88% of the American population display at least one biomarker of metabolic dysfunction, and only 1 in 8 people is metabolically healthy. Even those who are thin, and who exercise often have issues in this department. Some of those issues are actually often a result of over-exercising. Amenorrhea or lack of menstruation, fertility issues are often a result of women’s unhealthy relationship with food and exercise. It is thus not only those who are lazy, unmotivated that suffer from poor metabolic health. In fact, it is mostly not laziness and lack of motivation that contributes to the dysfunction, but lack of awareness, knowledge and the environment that enables the behaviors that bring on poor health. That is a whole different post. Today, I am bringing awareness to something I personally did not know about years ago when I was able to run marathons in under 4 hours, halves in 1 h 45 min, triathlons, swim 2 miles, ride a bike for 75, do 72 push-ups, climb the Na Pali coast in Hawaii in one day with a 20 pound heavy backpack, and more, and of course my grueling 45-min long MAR’s ( Motivation + Action + Results ) High Intensity Bodyweight Training workouts. I was fit, but not necessarily metabolically fit. I started understanding and learning about the concept of metabolic fitness when being fit as I was, I started realizing that I was wasting a lot of my time on exercise, which only made me want to eat more. My blood work was showing higher than I would want glucose and I was anemic. When I became pregnant with my now 7 – year old, I started reading about toxins, which prompted me to learn about our hormone disruption and how everything in our body is interrelated and how we should address everything holistically and starting at the core. Metabolic health or fitness is the core of:
Understanding this concept can literally change your life. If you are young, the sooner you realize it, the healthier you will be. If you are older, you will be able to significantly improve your conditions. It has changed mine, and those I have helped. It can change yours if you overcome the biggest obstacle and undergo mindset shift and from addressing the outside and weight loss goal, and unhealthy ways to go about it with focus on calorie restrictions instead of nourishing your body and mind and exercising for health and not for vanity. The sooner you realize you are in poor metabolic health or on the way to be, the better, but it is never too late. If you suffer from brain fog, memory loss, energy slumps, mood swings, sleep issues, skin health, get hungry all the time, get headaches, you should address your metabolic health. If you have fertility issues, are overweight or obese, already have chronic conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, LDL, you should speak to your doctor and be under your doctor’s care, but also understand metabolic health and try to adopt a lifestyle that can help. By doing so, you will be able to prevent many conditions that are a result of genetics, but also your own personal choices. Adopt a holistic approach to better metabolic health/fitness, so you can live healthier longer and feeling and looking better by: -making right nutrition choices (not counting calories) -proper exercise (that will help your hormones) -getting enough quality sleep - learning how to manage stress better -avoiding toxins that disrupt metabolic function by using healthy skincare (Dermattude ), consuming organic non GMO and without pesticides non processed foods, as well as paying attention to cleaning products). Sounds easy, but only 6% of the US population eats and sleeps well, exercises for health, and does not smoke nor drinks. We all can make healthier and more educated choices. If you would like to work with me or any other coaches who understand metabolic health, email us at [email protected] or CONTACT US for a free consultation. Yours in health and metabolic fitness, Marta or MAR ( Motivation + Action + Results). If you google the question: “ Does exercise boost metabolism? ”, you will see thousands of articles that it does. One of the first ones that popped up said: 'Cardiovascular exercise (also known as aerobic exercise) is anything that involves or improves your body’s oxygen consumption. Examples include cycling, jogging, sprinting, skipping, rowing and walking. These types of exercise boost your metabolism quite simply because they require additional calories to perform'.
Thanks to these kind of articles, our population did start to exercise more. I myself used to exercise anywhere between 5-10 hours a week, in addition to being active almost all day long. Jogging, cycling, swimming were a part of my life for many years in addition to the 10,000 steps someone who invented the first pedometer came up with because it sounded good and not because it was backed up by science and the idea has caught on with everyone, so did with with me. I never had weight issues, but worked out hard, and my diet, even though I now know that it was mediocre ( the recommended low fat and high carb ) was still better than the Standard American Diet that 60 or 70% of people are on. Back to the exercise, even with more exercise, at least people in the US have unfortunately gotten fatter. One in 3 Americans is obese and 70% are OVERweight. Part of the remaining 30% are the so-called skinny fat (that is another topic). WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN ? Short answer is that it is not the lack of exercise that has made people fatter, but the food people eat. It is the food that we are addicted to because the so called food scientists that big companies hire make us want more and more of it. Sugar can be more addictive than cocaine (studies prove), so OUR POPULATION IS BIOCHEMICALLY DEPENDENT ON THOSE PROCESSED FOODS. Some of us exercise more to burn it, and constantly fight weight gain. NOT A WAY TO LIVE and BE HEALTHY. Life is all about finding balance and health, and when you are preoccupied with burning calories all day long, so you do not gain weight, it becomes unhealthy. You want to eat and exercise for health. Once you start addressing your health, pounds will shed too and for good. BACK TO THE QUESTION There is am anthropologist, Herman Pontzner who have traveled the world studying the metabolism of different people. His findings were published in his book “Burn” ( Penguin ) that blows the lid off how we really burn calories, lose weight, and become healthy. He explains why it’s so hard to burn calories through exercise and why extreme dieting is so dangerous. If you read the book, you will find the following information shocking as it is completely different from what we had known, believed and learned as even fitness professionals ( if you are one ). Pontzner has found that EXERCISE DOES NOT INCREASE OUR METABOLISM AT ALL. He claims the number of calories we burn per day stays pretty consistent regardless of activity level; the average 9- year old burns about 2000 calories a day, and adult over age 50 about 2,500, depending primarily on body size. That’s pretty much your daily calorie budget. When you exercise more, however, your body lowers the number of calories it burns performing other functions, such as inflammation or hormone production. So the number of calories you burn per day — your metabolism — remains constant, whether you work out or not, but EXERCISE IS SO IMPORTANT FOR OTHER REASONS. When you exercise, your inflammation levels go down. Because your body is spending your energy budget on exercise, it spends less on creating chronic inflammation. Think of inflammation as a luxury — it’s what your body will do with extra calories if you have them. And inflammation contributes to most of the diseases of aging. So, YES! YOU DO WANT TO EXERCISE, BUT FOR DIFFERENT REASONS. YOU WANT TO EXERCISE TO AGE LESS AND TO GET SICK LESS. Finally, so THE answer to the " DOES EXERCISE INCREASE METABOLISM is “FALSE” When you exercise a lot, and especially doing the activities as commonly thought of increasing metabolism and the above mentioned rowing, cycling, jogging e.t.c, your body actually goes into a preservation mode. It wants to turn off its metabolism to decrease the risk of starvation (from an evolutionary standpoint). Exercise is for health, but you need to rebrand the way you think of exercise and stop thinking of exercise as a way to successful weight lose. You will not get the most bang out of your buck with long cardio workouts that will only make you more hungry. I have lived it. As mentioned before, I used to bike, jog, swim. I ran marathons, have done triathlons and was on a swimming team for most of my childhood years. When I suffered injury to my hip, my knees and my foot in my 30ies, I was forced to quit what I had been beating my body down with for years and even was addicted to. Now, at 43, I work out 10 times less. I eat healthier because I do not get as hungry. I look healthier and younger. My life is balanced. I have completely transformed the way I look at exercise and food, and I love it. I can help you do the same. MK Find Age Less Holistically group on Facebook: Age Less Holistically | Facebook or email for a free consult: [email protected] Stop making weight loss your number 1 priority in 2021! Make health & wellness your priority, and when you do that, your body will change if needed, too.
Truth is that people who make weight loss their number one priority, almost entirely regain it back ( 90% + within 1 year). When they decide to lose weight just to lose weight, majority of them starts to obsess with exercise or go on diets that restrict not only their calories, but first and foremost their nutrients. The exercise and diet programs are often unsustainable, unrealistic and unhealthy. Their mental wellbeing also takes a toll because sometimes their mood depends on their new new compulsion of weight loss, and can lead to depression, anorexia, bulimia, exercise bulimia or simply unhealthy preoccupation with their body. This is not a way to live. Instead of enjoying your wellness journey, there is so much preoccupation with weight loss and looking good on the outside instead of on the inside and focusing on health and metabolic fitness. Skinny body might be a sick body deprived of nutrients. A muscle head can have, well - big muscles- but screwed up kidneys. Is this a healthy mindset? HEALTHY MINDSET is where you make diet and exercise your priority for health's sake and not for weight loss's sake. It is when you engage in healthy behaviors for the same reasons you brush your teeth — because it's good for you and prevents long-term disease — rather than trying to punish yourself into a smaller body. Healthy mindset is one of the hardest things to develop because it does not produce immediate results. You can't see it. You can't weigh it. You have to wait for the results, and people tend to go for immediate gratification. Not too many people think of how what they are doing will effect last 10 years of their lives. There are so many people making weight loss their New Year's resolutions, and 80% of them will last less than couple months in their unrealistic plans. 1. SIP YOUR WAY TO HEALTHIER SKIN If you don't already drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, start and you will notice a difference not only on your face and skin, but also in your body. Water helps with digestion, absorption and circulation of nutrients and excretion functions. Water flushes out toxins out of your body, and helps your organs function better. A well hydrated body will make your skin appear less dull and more supple. If your body and your skin are dehydrated, wrinkles and pores can very often appear deeper and bigger. Drinking enough water will help fighting the formation of new ones, so hydrate your skin not only with a good moisturizer, such as our Peptide Complex, but also by drinking enough water. Note that if your already keep well hydrated, yet your skin is still dehydrated, drinking more might not solve the problem, but more so investing in a hyaluronic acid serum in addition to the water and moisturizer will. Certain dietary changes may also help. 2. EAT YOUR SKIN BEAUTIFUL Nourishing your skin with healthy foods is just as important if not more than skincare. One of the first steps you could take to change your diet for both your skin and your body is to stop eating processed foods, simple sugars, white flour. They all spike up blood sugar levels which causes inflamation of your body and breaks down collagen, which is the main component of our skin. If you want a healthy glowing skin, you should instead eat a lot of superfoods. Fruit and vegies are full of antioxidants that fight free radicals which break down the above mentioned collagen, and age our body in general. Adding those to your diet would be a great step towards healthier skin. Kale and spinach should definitely be on your shopping list as well. Dark leafy vegetables will promote lymphatic drainage leaving your face radiant looking. Kale in particular is loaded with collagen boosting vitamin A and C. Sunflower seeds, walnuts or almonds are abundant in vitamin E, zinc, iron and Omega-3 fatty acids that have anti-inflammatory properties, moisturizing powers and are also a great protection against the above mentioned free radicals. Snack on those or add to your green salads. If a salad is not an option, make a healthy green smoothie. Go organic to avoid GMOs and pesticides that may null the benefits of the goodness of healthy food. 3. NOURISH YOUR SKIN ON THE OUTSIDE Nourish your skin on the inside with healthy organic superfoods, but do not forget to do the same on the outside. Healthy skincare that is free of toxic chemicals, yet full of nourishing to the skin ingredients as well as scientifically proven anti-aging ingredients can help your skin look fresher and less aged. If you stick to Dermattude skincare routine for 2 months, you will notice a difference in how well hydrated your skin is, as well as in its general healthier appearance. You will more so slow down the hands of time as you will be nourishing your skin and protect it from further damage. Some ingredients, such as vitamin C, have been proven to work better for the skin when applied topically instead of orally. You will also not be exposing it to further damage and more toxins or pore clogging ingredients. Finally, your body will not be absorbing toxins, but healthy nutrients, you will not need to worry about circulating in your body. Previous chapTers of this guide have talked about skincare and skin care, but we do not want you to forget about its importance. 4. SUPPLEMENT As we age, our body needs more and more help in functioning better. Supplementing it can help get the nutrients you might need to improve and balance the health of your body. Our skin, and our biggest organ, also requires more help to do its main job, and provide the barrier that protects the rest of our body from the outside pollutants and toxins and to help it look, work, and feel better. Nourishing food and skincare ingredients are the key to its health, but supplements and what we call in skincare anti-aging actives, will take it to the next level. Knowing what ingredients work, and are not just an anti-aging hype is important. Truth is that anti-aging creams, moisturizers and serums nowadays can deliver results that were not possible years ago, and improve the signs of aging such as dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles, as well as your skin's elasticity and moisture. The ingredients can help stimulate collagen production, which in the main component of our skin. Dermattude has been formulated with the right nourishing ingredients, but also with added potent actives because we do understand the science and how helpful for example, Vitamin A ( Retinol ), Vitamin C and E can be to the health of our skin as well as the way it looks. Our potent supplements for the skin will add an extra layer of protection to your skin against the sun, skin cancer, but also contribute to its overall health. You may also add oral supplements such as vitamins A, C, D, E and K. Collagen supplements, that not everyone agrees whether they help or not, is also something you might consider for oral consumption only because the molecule of collagen alone is to big to permeate skin, so looking for it in skincare is a waste of time and money. Skinacre with collagen in it is just an example of an anti-aging hype. 5. EXERCISE IS NOT ONLY GOOD FOR THE BODY Even if you were blessed with great body, and do not exercise because you do not need, know that exercise has been scientifically proven to contribute to the health of the skin. As we age the dermis of our skin thins out and the epidermis thickens. Studies have shown that those who exercise have thinner epidermis and thicker dermis of the skin, which contributes to youthfulness of our skin. It is because exercise improves circulation and blood flow, and delivers nutrients to our cells, including the cells of our skin, more efficiently. Great circulation is also important in carrying toxins and waste products away from our body. Additionally, exercise increases endorphins or the happiness hormones level, and is a great stress reliever as it regulates the bad stress hormone-cortisol - as long as it is not a long cardio, such as long distance running, that can spike the hormone up. Exercise can also help you sleep better, and sleep is one of the best medicines, and has its own skin and body benefits. We are fans of bodyweight training. It is a type of a workout that can address all elements of fitness and does not take a lot of time. No equipment needed and you can do it anytime and anywhere. 6. GET YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP Get your beauty sleep is not a cliche, but it is true that when we are asleep, our body undergoes true rejuvenation processes. It is at night time that our skin repairs itself and produces most collagen, and it is also the time when essential nutrients and oxygen get delivered to the skin best. Experts say that about 75% of human growth hormone (HGH) is released at night. HGH is the catalyst of the reproduction of cells and cellular repair and regeneration. This essential hormone is abundant when we are young, but declines as we age. Poor sleep will make it plummit faster, and good night sleep more slowly. Prioritize your sleep. Both, your skin and your body will help you for it. 7. STRESS LESS TO BETTER SKIN Easier said than done. We all know that it is hard to change overnight and all of suddent stress less. Stress is in fact one of the biggest culprits of many dieseases. Stress supresses our immune system and can wreck havoc with our hormones, which can show up on our face in different ways. It can cause acne, psoriasis, dry skin. Finding your personal ways to deal with stress can be a journey alone, but it is crucial to the overall well being and not only to your skin. Healthy diet, exercise and sleep will also help you deal with stress better, but meditation, nature, music, different breathing and relaxation techniques that do not need to take a long time can help, too. 5 minutes is all you need to put yourself in a better mood. Have you ever thought of a 5-min long self-care skincare routine as a time to relax. Ask our wellness coaches to help you with that. 8.PAMEPER YOURSELF TO A FACIAL A great way to not only a more beautiful skin, but also to decompress and destress is to have a facial. If you can afford one at aprofessional spa, treat yourself to it, but make sure your skin is not absorbing chemicals, but nourishing ingredients. With Dermattude skincare, you can bring spa to your home. Dermattude is in fact a spa quality skincare freshly made with only finest organic, natural as well potent anti-aging ingredients that will bring on spa results at a fraction of a cost. Our home facial set comes with the tools you will need to pamper your skin. It comes with cleanser, microdermabrasion cream, AHA mask, hydrating serum, and a rich moisturizer. If you treat yourself to this home facial on regular bases, you will be as if getting a facial, microdermabrasian and hydro facial in the privacy of your own home. Have a SPA party! 9. BE CLEAN So many breakouts and skin problems come from a dirty pillow or make-up brushes. Keep those clean. Change your pillowcases and clean your brushes once a week. Make sure you never go to bed with make up on and/or without washing your face. Some say that just not washing your face every night can age you 5 years, but we look at it as a more so missed opportunity to rejuvenate and repair your skin instead of soaking up dirt, and chemicals. That clean skin will also help keep that pillow clean. If you use skincare at night time, your clean skin will be absorbing its nutrients throughout the night. Finally, eat clean and use clean beauty products and clean skincare and make up. Toss all old expired and toxic skincare and make up. We live in a toxic and polluted world, but we can stop rubbing it into our face. Use clean pillows, make up and clean beauty products, such as Dermattude. You will limit your exposure to them, and your skin as well as your body (and even mind) will thank you for it. 10. DETOX WITH A FAST There are many different ways to detox your skin. You can do it by not wearing make-up. You can do it with exfoliation ( and Jojo Beads microdermabrasion cream) to remove your skin's buildup. Brushing your skin ( not on the face) will detox your skin as well. You can detox your skin by using skincare products that will help you purge dirt, toxins, pollutants, sebum, dead skin cells that accumulate on our skin as we go through our life. You do not need this fancy word "detoxifying" on the label to detox your skin. Dermattude is formulated to detox your skin of all the impurities without adding toxins and chemicals, but we want to encourage you to add a detox fast into your holistic approach to skin care and self-care. We know it can sound impossible and scary for many, but our wellness coaches and holistic skincare consultants can help you get started to better skin and better health. Intermittent fasting or even 24 hour + fasts will not only help to clear your skin up, but also help you rid your entire body of toxins, and renew more than just the cells of your skin. Whether it is your diet, air pollution or chemicals circulating in your body, fasting will help rid of them. Some studies have indicated that fasting, even short term, can inhibit certain skin conditions such as acne, eczema, dermatitis, or even hives (1, 2) Once you become mindful and put work into your skin care, you will become mindful of what you put in your body, too ( unless you already are). You will also become mindful of how things are interrelated. Dermattude is more than skincare. New Year is the time people make resolutions that unfortunately won’t last. The new habits they try to instill without proper preparation give into the old habits that had been on autopilot for so many years. The saying that old habits die hard is unfortunately true, and the only way to transform for life, and not fail only after a couple of months, is by taking your time and facing your bad habits , or ones you want to improve, head on. This 52-week long journey will start with facing your current habits and then take you through steps that are missing from other fitness programs but are in fact crucial in sustaining healthy new habits and transformation for even life. Those missing pieces include self-awareness that 95% of people say they have, but only 10% do, mindfulness, and even changing your mindset about food and exercise. While on the journey with us, you will also learn to listen to your body instead of fad diets that are out there that do not account for the fact that we all differ on the inside just like we do on the outside. Once you get to know your body many of you think they already know, you will be work on a plan you will be equipped with tools to sustain. You will be able to customize this plan based on your age, body and metabolic type, goals, lifestyle and to your liking because everyone is different. Instead of taking big steps at once and getting in the end small ( if any ) results, we believe that small steps lead to big results, so when once again 99% of people out there will be making same old New Year’s resolutions at the beginning of 2022, you will be enjoying your transformed self with changes that will last a lifetime. 2020 is coming to an end. Many people will be soon making New Year's Eve resolutions and making unrealistic commitments and unsustainable changes into their lives. According to U.S. News & World Report, the failure rate for New Year's resolutions is said to be about 80 percent, and most people lose their resolve by mid-February. The rest will last a bit longer, but overall at least 95% of people will fail. There are many reasons for it, but some of them include lack of knowledge and guidance, setting unrealistic and unhealthy goals, trying to lose weight or achieving other goals too fast without properly addressing the mind first. While it is true that healthy body leads to a healthy mind, we need to have the right foundation to be successful long term or for life. The foundation should be self-awareness and knowledge of your own body and mind so many people do not have and do not want to take time to get to know, but instead take on exercise programs or diets not good for their specific needs and for their health. Once you have the foundation, your next step should be SMART goals, and this is once again where most people fail so fast and most by mid-February. They want to lose weight too fast, and can only last so long. Usually, they fall off the wagon because they can't keep up with the regimen they put themselves or even their trainer on or because they lose motivation which was unhealthy to begin with. Unhealthy motivation or its lack also often leads to failure. If your motivation is to look good for a high school reunion, or for a date, this challenge is not for you. There are many programs out there if you are looking for a quick fix of something that took years of unhealthy habits or even your entire life to acquire, but this one is not for you. This challenge, unlike others, is for those who want to become healthier on the inside out for themselves and not for others. This challenge is for those people who are motivated by goals such as longevity, health, wellness, mental toughness, and feeling and looking good on the inside out, so they can have a higher quality of life, and be happier with themselves. This challenge is for those who are willing to put in some effort instead of looking for miracles and quick fixes, but it is going to be definitely one you can sustain and come out of feeling victorious. As you go through it, you will be gaining not only better and healthier body, but also more mental and emotional strength. Sign up for it now. Stay tuned for more. Posts will start coming weekly the first Sunday of 2021. Welcome to the challenge!
